This table uses information from the retrospective birth histories obtained in the 2013 GDHS to examine trends in age specific fertility rates for successive five-year periods before the survey. To calculate these rates, births are classified according to the period of time in which the birth occurred and the mother’s age at the time of the birth. Because birth histories were not collected for women age 50 and older, the rates for older age groups become progressively more truncated for periods more distant from the survey date. For example, rates cannot be calculated for women age 45-49 for periods 5-9 years or more preceding the survey because women in that age group
