RECRUITMENT OF INTERVIEWERS AND SUPERVISORS FOR THE 2024 POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

The Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS) has launched a national recruitment exercise to hire about 7,000 interviewers and supervisors across the country for the 2024 Population and Housing Census (PHC) to be conducted from May 25th to June 14th, 2024. Hard copies of applications will not be accepted.

 

Application Criteria

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be recruited as census field staff:

  • must be Gambian; 
  • must be at least eighteen (18) years old and not more than sixty (60) years old as of May 10th, 2024;
  • must hold at least the WASSCE/Secondary Fourth or any other equivalent diploma;
  • must have a minimum of 3 credits with a pass in Mathematics or English;
  • must be fluent in one of the dominant local languages of his/her preferred area of posting; 
  • must be available and free from any other commitment throughout the enumeration period; 
  • must be willing to stay in the assigned area; 
  • must be able to work in a team, under pressure, and at times, work beyond the normal work hours; 
  • must be able to speak and understand English Language fluently; 
  • having experience in data collection with a tablet or smartphone is an added advantage.

 

Shortlisting of Applicants

 

Shortlisting of applicants will be done at Headquarters (HQ) to select the list of applicants to be sent to the Census Regional Offices. Before the list is sent to the census regional offices, a desktop analysis of the prospective applicants must be done at HQ and the results submitted to the Census Controller and the core team for approval. Only shortlisted applicants will be communicated to

 

Training for the Main Fieldwork

 

The training for the main fieldwork will last for a period of 12 days starting on May 10th and ending on May 21st, 2024.
